Bonfire is smaller and easier to move, making it a better choice for fires on the go. Basecamp 24™ is the fire pit you leave outside, light up often, and build backyard nights around.

Can I use Basecamp™ on decks or composite surfaces?

Yes. Basecamp 24™ includes a Stand designed to help protect heat-sensitive surfaces like decks and patios. Because surface materials vary, we recommend checking with your deck manufacturer and using additional heat protection if needed.

Is Basecamp™ truly smokeless?

Basecamp 24™ uses Solo Stove’s Signature 360° Airflow Design® to re-burn smoke before it escapes, creating a cleaner burn with significantly less smoke than a traditional fire pit. You may see a little smoke during startup, which is normal and fades quickly once the fire reaches temperature. For best results, keep logs stacked below the secondary burn holes inside the fire pit.

What type of wood should I use with Basecamp™?

Use dry, split hardwoods like oak, maple, birch, or hickory for the best performance. Wet or soft woods create more smoke and reduce efficiency. Basecamp 24™ is designed for firewood logs only and is not compatible with pellets or the Pellet Adapter.

Accepted Answer

At 30.5 lbs, Basecamp 24™ can be repositioned once fully cooled to adjust your backyard setup or move it for storage. However, it’s designed primarily as a backyard fire pit. For frequent transport or fires on the go, Bonfire or Ranger are better options.

Can I leave Basecamp 24™ outside?

Yes. Basecamp 24™ can live outdoors year-round. While it doesn’t need a cover to work, we recommend using a Solo Stove Shelter and Lid to help protect it from the elements and keep it looking its best. Over time, stainless steel may develop a golden-blue patina—that’s normal and part of the fire pit’s character.

How do I clean out my smokeless fire pit?

Once your wood-burning fire pit has burned out completely and cooled, remove the ash pan from beneath the base plate and dump the ashes. The removable ash pan makes cleaning your Basecamp 24™ stainless steel fire pit quick and easy—no tipping required.

Why is the base plate removable on the Basecamp 24™ fire pit?

As wood burns on the base plate, ash falls into the ash pan below. Once the fire pit is fully cooled, lifting the base plate and removing the ash pan allows for easy cleanup without turning over your outdoor fire pit.

Accepted Answer

No. Do not touch any part of the stainless-steel fire pit while it is in use. Once the flames have died out, wait at least  one hour  before touching the fire pit with bare hands.

Start your Basecamp 24™ outdoor fire pit with  4–5 dry split logs , then add more as needed. Keep logs stacked close to the inner walls and below the secondary burn holes to maintain proper airflow and optimal smokeless performance.

Do I need to buy accessories to use the Basecamp 24™ fire pit?

No. Basecamp 24™ is ready to use with just firewood and a way to light it. Optional fire pit accessories like the Fire Pit Surround, Heat Deflector, Shield, Lid, and Shelter can enhance comfort, safety, and convenience.

Does the Basecamp 24™ smokeless fire pit come with a cover?

No. The Shelter weather-resistant cover and stainless steel Lid are sold separately. While a cover isn’t required, we recommend using one if you plan to leave your fire pit outside to help protect it from the elements and keep it looking its best.

Can I cook on the Basecamp 24™ fire pit?

Basecamp 24™ is designed for fireside enjoyment, not cooking. Cooking accessories are  not compatible  with this model. Always use only Solo Stove–approved accessories with your fire pit.
