Spring Ham & Asparagus Pizza

Asparagus is emerging from the ground, marking the middle of spring and the transition to much warmer summer days. These tender veggie stalks are delicious roasted or grilled, but they’re even better as the star of the show on a homemade pizza.

This pizza pie starts with a flavorful, creamy base of ricotta cheese and pesto. It’s topped with Canadian bacon, red peppers, red onion, asparagus, and shredded parmesan for the ultimate combination of flavors and vibrant color to celebrate spring.

Spring Ham & Asparagus Pizza

Makes 1 pizza

Equipment

Pi Pizza Oven

Ingredients

1 dough ball

Ricotta Pesto Base:

½ cup ricotta cheese

3 tablespoons pesto

Pizza Toppings:

3 slices Canadian bacon, cut into triangles

¼ red bell pepper, sliced

¼ red onion, thinly sliced

6 stalks asparagus, cut

Shredded parmesan cheese

Directions

Step 1: Preheat Your Pi Oven

Fire up your Pi using propane or wood fuel. Allow it to preheat for 15 to 20 minutes.

Step 2: Mix the Base

In a small bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese and pesto.

Step 3: Stretch Your Dough

Use a Solo Stove dough ball or your favorite homemade pizza dough. Stretch the dough and place it on the pizza peel.

Step 4: Spread the Base

Spread the ricotta pesto base on the stretched dough.

Step 5: Add Your Toppings

Top the base with Canadian bacon, sliced red pepper, sliced red onion, and pieces of asparagus. Sprinkle shredded parmesan all over the top.

Step 6: Cook the Pizza

Time to fire! Launch the pizza into the Pi oven and allow it to set for 20 to 30 seconds to cook the base. Then, turn the pizza throughout cooking for even browning. Cook time should be about 90 seconds. Remove the pizza from the oven, slice with a pizza cutter, and dig in!
