Spring Ham & Asparagus Pizza
Apr 27, 2023By Molly AllenAsparagus is emerging from the ground, marking the middle of spring and the transition to much warmer summer days. These tender veggie stalks are delicious roasted or grilled, but they’re even better as the star of the show on a homemade pizza.
This pizza pie starts with a flavorful, creamy base of ricotta cheese and pesto. It’s topped with Canadian bacon, red peppers, red onion, asparagus, and shredded parmesan for the ultimate combination of flavors and vibrant color to celebrate spring.
Spring Ham & Asparagus Pizza
Makes 1 pizza

Ingredients
Ricotta Pesto Base:
½ cup ricotta cheese
3 tablespoons pesto
Pizza Toppings:
3 slices Canadian bacon, cut into triangles
¼ red bell pepper, sliced
¼ red onion, thinly sliced
6 stalks asparagus, cut
Shredded parmesan cheese
Directions
Step 1: Preheat Your Pi Oven
Fire up your Pi using propane or wood fuel. Allow it to preheat for 15 to 20 minutes.
Step 2: Mix the Base
In a small bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese and pesto.
Step 3: Stretch Your Dough
Use a Solo Stove dough ball or your favorite homemade pizza dough. Stretch the dough and place it on the pizza peel.
Step 4: Spread the Base
Spread the ricotta pesto base on the stretched dough.
Step 5: Add Your Toppings
Top the base with Canadian bacon, sliced red pepper, sliced red onion, and pieces of asparagus. Sprinkle shredded parmesan all over the top.
Step 6: Cook the Pizza
Time to fire! Launch the pizza into the Pi oven and allow it to set for 20 to 30 seconds to cook the base. Then, turn the pizza throughout cooking for even browning. Cook time should be about 90 seconds. Remove the pizza from the oven, slice with a pizza cutter, and dig in!
