Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza
May 19, 2023By Molly AllenOnce May hits, it’s time to soak up the late spring sunshine. The days are longer and brighter, and there’s plenty of time for outdoor cooking. May is also National BBQ Month, which is the perfect opportunity to sling some burgers with all of your favorite toppings.
While you could certainly make burgers on the Solo Stove hub and griddle top, we’re kicking things up a notch by firing all the juicy toppings for a burger in the pizza oven and turning it into the ultimate dinnertime pie. But this certainly isn’t your average cheeseburger pizza. Starting with a burger sauce base, it’s then topped with a mixture of ground beef, thick-cut bacon, sliced onions, and plenty of sharp cheddar cheese for maximum flavor. A sprinkle of arugula on top elevates the pie making it fresh, vibrant, and wildly delicious.
Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza
Makes 1 pizza
Equipment
Pi Pizza Oven
Ingredients
Burger Sauce Base
1 ½ tablespoons ketchup
½ tablespoon mustard
½ tablespoon mayonnaise
Pizza Toppings
1/3 pound ground beef
4 slices thick cut bacon, chopped
¼ white onion, sliced
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
½ cup fresh arugula
Directions
Step 1: Preheat Your Pi Oven
Fire up your Pi Pizza Oven using propane or wood fuel. Allow it to preheat for 15 to 20 minutes.

Step 2: Mix the Base
In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, mustard, and mayo.
Step 3: Cook the Beef, Bacon, and Onions
Combine the ground beef, bacon, and sliced onions in a cast iron skillet. Cook in the pizza oven, stirring occasionally, for 10-12 minutes. Once cooked, remove from the pizza oven and set aside while you prep your dough.

Step 4: Stretch Your Dough
Use a Solo Stove dough ball or your favorite homemade pizza dough. Stretch the dough and place it on the pizza peel.
Step 5: Spread the Base
Spread the burger sauce on the stretched dough.

Step 6: Add Your Toppings
Top the base with the cooked beef, bacon, and onion mixture. Sprinkle generously with cheddar cheese.

Step 7: Cook the Pizza
Ready to fire! Launch the pizza into the oven and allow it to set for 20 to 30 seconds to cook the base. Then, turn the pizza throughout cooking for even browning. Cook time should be 70 to 90 seconds. Remove the pizza from the oven and sprinkle fresh arugula on top. Slice the pie with a pizza cutter and grab a slice!
